The Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) enhances its โLight in Actionโ offensive strategy with the launch of the first direct flight from New York to Marrakech.
The aircraft touched down safely on the tarmac of Marrakech-Menara Airport this morning.
The flight is operated by United Airlines and represents the inaugural point-to-point service provided by an American airline to Morocco and North Africa. It is the result of a unique and historical agreement signed in March 2024 between the MNTO and United Airlines, which represents a significant development in the field of international aviation.
To emphasize the inaugural flight of this new route, a substantial delegation from United Airlines, headed by Patrick Quayle, the airline’s Senior Vice President of Global Network and Alliances, made the journey. Upon their arrival at Marrakech Airport, they were greeted by a high-level Moroccan delegation including the MNTO team and Moroccan tourism operators, headed by Hamid Bentahar, Chairman of the National Tourism Confederation (NTC).
A fam trip was scheduled for 35 American travel consultants to visit Morocco
In addition to the United Airlines delegation, the flight included 35 travel consultants from the two largest American groups specialising in luxury tourism: namely, Signature Travel Network and Virtuoso. These organisations collectively represent over 32,000 travel agents. In June 2023, the MNTO entered into strategic partnership agreements with these two major networks, with the objective of strengthening Morocco’s position as an attractive destination for the American market. These travel prescribers will visit Marrakech and several other Moroccan cities, including Casablanca, Rabat, Essaouira, and Agafay.
The historic New YorkโMarrakech route will be operated three times per week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) with 167-seat Boeing 767-300s configured with United Airlines’ award-winning cabins: Polaris, Premium Plus business and Premium Economy.
By launching this new direct route in partnership with United Airlines, the MNTO is consolidating its strategy on the American market, with the stated objective of eventually reaching one million American tourists visiting Morocco each year.

LโONMT avait signรฉ des accords de partenariat stratรฉgiques avec ces deux grands rรฉseaux en juin 2023 pour renforcer la destination Maroc auprรจs du marchรฉ amรฉricain.
